Directorate of the Central Library
Overview
The Central Library at the University of Akre for Applied Sciences was established on October 1, 2023, and operates on an open-access system. It provides an ideal educational environment for students, faculty, and staff, housing a rich collection of scientific and literary resources that includes a total of 7,949 books.
All information resources in the Central Library are classified and cataloged according to the Dewey Decimal System to facilitate access. The Directorate’s work includes a range of tasks, from planning and design to execution, maintenance, and updating of university buildings and facilities.
The library provides a diverse collection of Master's theses and Doctoral dissertations (both scientific and literary), totaling 229 theses and dissertations. Important Note: Borrowing is strictly restricted to reading within the library hall; taking them outside the library building is not permitted for undergraduate students.
Mission
We are working to make the library a pioneer in providing high-quality technical and informational services using modern technology and techniques, keeping pace with the fields of research, development, and electronic publishing. This includes creating a suitable environment for its patrons and expanding its services locally and globally by building partnerships, cooperation mechanisms, and international agreements that elevate the university's standing in global rankings.

We are working to transform the library into a knowledge and information center with global standards, to actively contribute to achieving the academic and societal goals of the university.
Responsibilities
Providing high-quality and distinguished services to library patrons, in addition to simplifying procedures and delivering services in an ideal manner that positively reflects on the library's success, and submitting proposals in light of the changes taking place in the library.
Official Working Hours
- Morning Shift: 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM
- Evening Shift: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
