Scientific Background
Dr. Shakir Fattah Kak serves as Vice President for Student Affairs at Akre University for Applied Sciences. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Mosul (1992–1997), followed by a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Zakho (2011–2013). He later completed his Ph.D. in Information Technology (Artificial Intelligence) at Duhok Polytechnic University (2016–2020). He was promoted to the academic rank of Assistant Professor on December 8, 2025. Dr. Kak has published 34 scientific research papers in specialized international and national journals and conferences in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Computer Vision, Information Security, Image Processing, Smart Systems, and related areas. His academic contributions include teaching, research supervision, and the development of innovative solutions in emerging technologies. .
Responsibilities
- Managing the General Registry Directorate, contributing to student admission planning, and supervising examinations in accordance with university regulations.
- Managing student affairs, dormitories, student activities (including sports), and university health and safety services.
- Leading initiatives that enhance student success, leadership, career readiness, and graduate employability.
- Building partnerships with public and private sectors to support training, internships, and employment opportunities for students and graduates.
